I like this. Of course I'm a big fan of squatting poses so it gets points right off for that. 8-)
Now the imo comments - I like the way the light wraps around on the right side. On her face, giving shadow detail but not losing the ear or scarf definition. The nice way it follows the curve of her butt cheek while still holding details of the lace stockings on her feet. Well done.
The sticks in her hair bother me. We know from other images here that it's a hair accessory. But if this was the only image I saw they just look like two sticks that are stuck in her head because we can't really see the curled up hair they keep together. Ends up being more distracting than adding to her beautiful photograph.
I would like to see her shifted to the left. Yes I know she would be off center and yes you're not supposed to have a lot less negative space in front of the person than behind them...but. This would do a couple things.
It would bring in more of the dark triangle in the upper right; which would offset the bright light in the upper left and above her head. This bright top left draws my eye there. Including a bit more dark on the right would bring in some balance. A bit of a ying and yang at the top.
This would also bring out more of the chair shadow on the wall at lower right. I like the detail of the shadow and feel it could add to the interest of the image if we could see more.
Yes, I agree about the composition, she could be a bit more to the left, the left side is not interesting anyway. I don't care about rules, like the ones about negative space, I would break them if I think it looks good. So that's not why I did it like this. I'm not sure why I did it like this, her being in the center of the photo surely wasn't it. I go on 'feeling' most of the time. I don't agree about the dark corner next to the chimney though. If you see the other photos, I never centered the chimney to get a more balanced effect, I like it not symmetrically. But I do agree on the sticks. They are not some hair accessory, they are just a pair of normal chopsticks, to eat with. I did the hair myself, and I worked with only the chop sticks, I had nothing else to keep the hair up. The knot should have been more on top of her head. It was at first, but it fell apart each time of course, with only the chopsticks to hold it. If I would have to select one photo from this series for something, it wouldn't be this one, even when I love it because of her look. I would choose one where we see the knot, and the chopsticks in it. Like the first photo of this set. But hey, I'm not working for a fashion magazine here! I make photos on my old attic, just me and the model. No assistants, no studio lights, just the two of us having fun. And I don't mind if people see that, on the contrary, that's what I want to show. Of course I try to mind these things, like the chopsticks, and I did see it, but sometimes taking the photo is more important than details like this, I think. I didn't want to miss her face!
